Oh Pinkie wasn't just tolerable in this episode, but her character was far beyond any portrayal she's ever had in the entire show!

Same. Also, I have my own reason for it in 1 word: CheesePie.

I love the CheesePie ship! It's definitely the bast I've seen for my time of ships. (Also cause Pinkie's my fave character :D )
Best episode ever. (A+ =Awesomeness + 20%!)

What is your rating criteria? I've read 3 of your reviews and to me it seems random at best. I'd say you just rate them based on personal likeness of the episode.

I can see why you marked Three's a Crowd a D+ The only good thing about it was Discord making an appearance.

Yeah, it was a pretty cool episode.

Also, it's debatable if Cheese Sandwich is a better party planner than Pinkie; keep in mind she throws parties regularly while ChS throws one at whatever town he goes, and then leaves. That's why his parties are so epic; he puts a lot of effort to make himself unforgettable for the residents.

I didn't really like much of the cut scenes either to real life. It was funny, but not necessary. This epsiode also kind of relates to me. Being good at something and your friends appreciate it, but then someone else comes along who your friends think is better than you at it, and you're kinda left behind, thinking, 'I guess I'm no good at what I like to do.'

I quite enjoyed this episode, the Songs worked pretty well and i really liked Cheese's background. I'm glad he didn't become another Flim Flam Character. Though i do think the cut to real life footage was not necessary.

It's already been explored that Ponyville as a whole tends to forget their main residents as soon as someone new comes along (i.e. Mysterious Mare Do Well, Flim Flam Bros, Trixie in Boast Busters), but I suppose this can be attributed to a sort of mob mentality.

However, I thought it was massively OOC for Rainbow Dash to dismiss Pinkie's efforts literally in front of her face after praising them five minutes before, only to give a shallow apology at the end. Yes, she's the "permanent party planner" and "nopony could ever take [her] place," but it was pretty obnoxious for the entire mane Six and especially Rainbow Dash, having just had an episode on loyalty no more than two episodes ago, to fawn over a newcomer the entire episode. Again, the Mane Six were literally cheering her on moments before, but then RD goes an dismisses her parties in one fell swoop and the sad thing is that no nobody even notices EXCEPT for Pinkie.

So, overall, I really enjoyed this episode, but what did you think of RD's attitude throughout the episode?

Rainbow Dash did not realize how Pinkie Pie would react a guest party planner. And Rainbow takes it really badly, once she realizes what a hard time she gave Pinkie.

Two episodes ago, it was about sports, something Rainbow Dash understands. The problem there was conflicting loyalty between Ponyville and Cloudsdale, which is exactly how Discord got her.

But it wasn't Pinkie reacting to Cheese Sandwich that caused RD to act so poorly. The sequence of events was:

1. Town-wide song about appreciating Pinkie's party planning (including mane Six)
2. Cheese Sandwich comes and announces his party planning abilities, which he backs up
3. RD dismisses Pinkie's party, for which tons of materials had already been purchased and had, as "fun and sweet and all."

"Fun and sweet and all." As in, not up to her standards. Not "epic" enough.  Even though she had no problems with it AT ALL just minutes before. And the thing with her taking it badly was that she really didn't. All she said was that she was sorry for being "swept away by Cheese Sandwich."  There's a huge difference between being swept away and being demeaning towards a close, personal friend. What she essentially apologized for was being excited about a bigger party. What she SHOULD have apologized for was casting Pinkie aside so quickly and insulting her parties for no reason, and she's so dense that she didn't even realize that what she was apologizing for was the wrong thing.

Loyalty isn't all about sports. There are plenty other instances of RD being loyal to others that don't involve sports. The other difference is that she wasn't conflicted between Ponyville and Cloudsdale, she was conflicted between Ponyville and the Wonderbolts. If the team had been made up of childhood friends, or flyers she had a nostalgic attachment for, the question of loyalty would have been on a totally different level. That's not loyalty to her hometown, as it was in Return to Harmony, it was a strong desire to be part of a team of better flyers that actually cared about the Games, something RD's original team clearly did not. But besides that, saying that she only understood the loyalty aspect because it was sports sort of undermines her element, don't you think? After all, if loyalty to RD is only about sports, then she's really not loyal at all because then she doesn't understand the basic workings of friendship.

But that point has been counteracted by other acts of loyalty not concerning sports, so the excuse "she didn't get it because it didn't deal with sports and the Wonderbolts" doesn't work. And she had her element essentially refreshed in her memory, so there's no reason for her to be questioning it two episodes later.

Cheese Sandwich is a celebrity. Would you turn down Weird Al Yancowic performing at you party for that guy living at the end of  your street who plays accordion well?
Sports is important to Rainbow Dash, so she assumes it is for everyone else.
She did not realize how important the planning was for Pinkie Pie until the goof off started.

Weird Al is not playing himself in this episode, he's playing a freelance party planner that happens to be very good at what he does, taking inspiration from Pinkie's antics and running with it rather than staying and building close relationships. He's well known, but he's not a celebrity. Pinkie and Rainbow have gone through tons of stuff together, and it doesn't make sense for Rainbow to abandon Pinkie so quickly and not really realize what she did wrong.

What evidence is there that Rainbow assumes sports are important to everyone?

Technically, she didn't get it at all until AFTER Pinkie had called it off and gave her reasoning and packed up her stuff. She was completely oblivious to the whole thing until the very end of the episode.

I think it's fairly in-character for RD to do that, considering that her character is often a jerk to people.

I wonder if Weird Al has some kind of an agreement with Hasbro? He sang and voiced a character in Transformers the movie, voiced Wreck-Gar from TF:A and now this

Not really. He seems like a Weird Al avatar, rather than a separate character. 'Sides now I'll have to avoid EQD - all the bragging about how "special" this fandom and this show are 'cause Hasbro hired Weird Al for a character... I can't stand it XD

I dunno. I think it may very well be. Weird Al tends to be an elusive person, to the point that every new album he releases is met with cries of "Wait, he's still alive?" To have such a choosy person on your show is quite a medal of honor.

To be honest? I didn't like the cutscene changes to real life rubber chicken and real life alligator. I mean that kind of joke can work, don't get me wrong. I just felt like for this series, it just doesn't. I mean, it's a small nitpick, but that's it.

No, I like the zaniness when it's done right. Pinkie Pie's antic are most of the time good humor and fun. It's just not the right show I think to do some jokes like that. It's not like this is one of the Golden WB Cartoons where humor and parody are the main attractions. This is a show that's mainly about morals and teaching them in various ways. Sometimes serious, sometimes humorous. Maybe I'm digging to much into it XP
