ANGER as people wait TWO YEARS for commissions

Anger and backlash has been created among the DeviantArt community by a number of irresponsible users who are keeping others waiting for an extremely long time before finishing their commissions – some as long as two years or more.

While most users on DeviantArt do their best to finish commissions within a fair and reasonable period of time, others are more than happy to pocket the money and then keep people waiting for years before getting around to finishing.

Even after years have passed, some users fail to deliver the product as advertised, or even refuse to deliver at all, falling silent or providing endless excuses about why they have not finished what they were paid to do.

“You need to understand - as a creative person, I need to follow my artistic muse," says a user called 'Salty Pumpkin'. "I can only create art when my body, mind and soul wills it. You cannot force greatness. If that means keeping people waiting for years and years while I take lots of other commissions and make more money from suckers – I mean, awesome people who like my art – then so be it. Stop with the micro-aggressions. I don't owe you anything.”

One user said: “If you are going to keep people waiting for years and still don't produce the commission as advertised, you aren't responsible enough to take commissions and your toxic work ethic is poisoning the entire community.”
